Room 12 Home Learning Day #1

Hugh getting off to a great start with his home reading on day #1 of isolation. Keep it up!!!

Esme had a great home learning day 1. We did the number of the day working things out with lego pieces. It will be great to do that every day and see if she can start to get more confident with it.

Esme also did a cuboid challenge that was given to her year 9 sister (guess which diagram will make a box shape then cut them out to see if you were right) She nailed it! I'll attach it here in case you want to give it to the other kids, it was fun!

We also had a buddy reading session with my friend's 14 year old daughter.  Alex read to Esme over a what's app video call. Esme was delighted and it went really well!

Nam also had a busy day yesterday. He started off with some maths, where he even went on to do the extra for experts. You are a great Mathematician Nam. I love to way you have recorded your work so carefully.

After Maths it was reading time. Nam read one of his favourite books and then wrote a list of all the adjectives he could find. Now you will be able to use those interesting words in your writing to make your stories really interesting. Great work Nam!!!

Alex did his first Zoom guitar lesson this week with Gareth. He also did some baking yesterday - he made Anzac biscuits for the family. Super yummy!

You look so happy Alex, I bet the cookies tasted delicious!! What a great start to Home Learning you are having, keep it up!!!

    1. Hi Joanna, it's Dogman - it's the 4th book. It's about dogman - half dog half man. It's about him fighting crime and saving the world from evil villians.

  10. Esme, what a creative day! Thanks for sharing. I love the idea of reading to each other over WhatsApp. Manipulatives like Lego (or any other small things you have handy like pebbles, twigs, or leaves!) are such an effective way to do maths and develop number sense.
